Head Track Coach Job Description
Terms of Employment: Track Season: June 15 – August 15
Each year, FCP annually hires coaches to prepare athletes for many athletic activities. Participation opportunities are offered at a variety of age levels and while most programs are instructional in nature, semi-competitive play is also offered.
All of our coaches regardless of their sport have responsibility for:
  • Providing a safe, fun, instructional environment with a focus on teaching sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to one's team;
  • Conditioning athletes appropriately for activities requiring speed, endurance, strength and agility;
  • Supervising and conducting practices and contests safely; supervising locker rooms and buses;
  • Teaching sports techniques, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics;
  • Monitoring athletes' attendance and conduct at all related athletic events;
  • Responding to player/participant injuries with approved first aid techniques;
  • Managing equipment and facilities in a responsible manner;
  • Provide coverage for absence of coaches.
Interested applicants should fill out a job application, provide a detailed resume, and provide three letters of reference (two letters must be from former employers with one letter directly related to coaching track and field).  Applicants should list and date related playing and/or coaching experiences and any training completed including coaching certifications, university course work and first aid and CPR certifications.
The director and/or assistant director will review all candidate backgrounds, experiences and training and recommend one or more candidates to be interviewed.  Candidates for coaching positions are screened and interviewed by the FCP Director, FCP Assistant Director and other qualified staff.  
Coaching salaries/contracts vary depending on coaching assignment and the level of coaching experience.

Head Track Coach Qualifications:
- Prior track and field coaching experience required. Experience with USATF and MEUSATF preferred.
- Working knowledge of track and field events required. Experience with Hytek Team Manager preferred.
- First Aid and CPR Certification required. Sport First Aid Course preferred.                                                                        
- Must have a clean motor vehicle record.

Job Summary:
The Head Track Coach is responsible for assisting in the promotion, administration and development of the youth track and field program and assists in planning and implementing the operation of the track and field program.  The Head Track Coach attends any necessary MEUSATF meetings, clinics and seminars, maintains necessary records and monitors eligibility for the track and field team. The Head Track Coach works closely with Assistant Director and FCP staff and is responsible for safety of participants during meets, practice, and travel.  The Head Track Coach demonstrates integrity and upholds the values and mission of Falmouth Community Programs.  Recruiting participants while not required is encouraged.
