This is to clarify the recent notice in the Forecaster and e-mail from the Town of Falmouth regarding leaving canoes, kayaks and dinghies on moorings. The request for ordinance change does not prohibit the use of canoes, kayaks or dinghies for conveyance to moorings or even prohibit leaving them on moorings while underway (for up to seven consecutive days without HM approval). The language is to prohibit mooring holders who no longer have a vessel from registering a canoe, kayak, dinghy or other low sided vessel as the primary vessel for a mooring so they do not
lose their mooring assignment. This is necessary because of the hazard to navigation they could cause if they should become submerged.
