Request from Councilor Farber to pursue a zoning amendment to exempt certain small non-residential site improvements from Site Plan Approval under Section 9 of the Zoning Ordinance.
ACTION: No Council action is anticipated.
The Zoning Ordinance currently requires that all additions to non-residential structures in excess of 100 square feet and all amendments to pre-approved properties receive Site Plan Approval from the Planning Board under Section 9. This proposal would exempt certain small additions and other site improvements from Planning Board approval and require a staff approval. Staff review would assure that requirements of the Zoning Ordinance and the various Design Guidelines are met. Attached is a memo from Councilor Farber on a conceptual proposal for the amendment.
