Fred Chase was elected to the Council in 2009. He is a graduate of Falmouth High School and was first elected to the Council in 1970. During that time, Fred helped establish the first Conservation Commission; chaired the 208 Water Quality Program for GPCOG (Greater Portland Council of Governments); amended the State Plumbing Code (requiring licensed soils evaluators in the design of on-site septic disposal systems); promoted adoption of State and Local Shoreland Zoning and Wetlands Protection Ordinances and worked to stop sewer discharges into the Presumpscot River.
Fred is a homebuilder and developer who built Westwood (Susan Lane); Brookside Field (Kimberly Lane); Brookside Forest; and White Oakes (InnKeeper’s Lane). He has served on the building committees for the Town Hall renovation and addition, Winn Road Fire Station, Lunt School, Middle School and the High School. He is a past President and Coach of Falmouth Little League and coached girls’ softball. Fred was recognized as Falmouth’s Citizen of the Year in 2000.
He married Diana in 1956 and has four children; Philip, Kimberly, David and Susan. His eight grandchildren are Chad, Christopher, Chase, William, Diana, Amy, Michael and Joshua.
